Blackberry 10 (Z10, Q10)
Permissions
This is needed to be able to show you which of your phone contacts is using WhatsApp. Without this permission, OpenWhatsapp will not be able to detect your contacts and the contact list will be empty
Access to shared files is needed when setting profile picture, setting group picture, sending an image, an audio or a video. It's also required to make received media show up in other applications, such as picture viewer
This is only needed to detect your country code at registration
This is required to obtain the device IMEI. The IMEI will be used to uniquely identify your device to WhatsApp during registration
General
If OpenWhatsapp is visible in running tasks, you will still receive messages. If you close it and it's not visible anymore in running tasks then you will not. This is due to a temporary limitation in Blackberry 10 where it cannot run background services at the moment. Using push notifications is not an option unfortunately because OpenWhatsapp does not own the service
Free WhatsApp accounts have an expiry date, after which you have to upgrade to a paid WhatsApp subscription. This is enforced by WhatsApp service and has nothing to do with OpenWhatsapp.
Header bar color represents current connection status to WhatsApp service. Like a traffic light sequence; red means offline, yellow means connecting, and green means connected
When you are invisible, you will not appear as online to your contacts when OpenWhatsapp window is active, while still being able to receive new messages. This could be useful if you don't want your friends know you have read their message(s)
Currently OpenWhatsapp can only display notifications for new messages in Hub. It cannot be fully integrated like facebook or twitter because Blackberry 10 doesn't have an API for developers to allow this kind of integration. Hopefully they work out something soon.
Conversations
Due to a temporary limitation in Blackberry 10, displaying emoji is not possible at the moment. It should be fixed in a future BB10 update.
Working on it and soon it will be available
Red means message is sent but still hasn't been received by WhatsApp server, yellow means the message has reached WhatsApp server and will be delivered to contact if they're connected, or once they're connected. Green means message has been delivered to contact. Unlike BBM, WhatsApp does not offer a method to know if a message has been read, so there is no indicator for that.
Contacts
This is a temporary problem with BB10 where contacts linked with services such as facebook, bbm..etc, cannot be fetched by applications. This should be fixed in the upcoming Blackberry 10 software update. Meanwhile, to force a contact to show up in OpenWhatsapp, you will have to unlink services attached to this contact
Registration
"This means you have tried too many times to register. Possible solutions: Register on another device, then register again in the app. or Toggle 'Device identifying Information' in application permissions for OpenWhatsapp (bb10 only) and register again. If all fails contact WhatsApp.
You need to wait the time displayed in the notification before you try to register again
